OUR PASTOR,
Bishop Designate Rodney Alpheus Brown, Sr. was born July 26, 1963 in Richmond, Virginia. He is the second youngest of four children born to Elder John H. Brown and Evangelist Shirley Knight Brown. He was educated in the Richmond public school system, and graduated from Maggie Lena Walker High School. Upon graduation, Pastor Brown attended Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.
In 1993 Pastor Brown felt the call of God on his life and was ordained a Deacon at the Glorious Church of God In Christ. He served in this capacity diligently, teaching Sunday School, Bible Study and leading the Men’s Ministry. In 1999 he received and accepted his call to preach and was licensed by the late Pastor Mother Maudell Dillard.
In September of 2000, he was led by the Holy Spirit to New Direction Evangelistic Church (North Chesterfield, Virginia) under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Roy L. Foots and Co-Pastor Laura Foots. He actively lead the New Membership Class, Call to Discipleship, Prison Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, and Outreach Ministries. He has served the prison ministry for over 10 years passionately. In 2007 Bishop Foots was led by the Lord to install him as the Assistant Pastor of New Direction Evangelistic Church.
Pastor Brown is a dynamically gifted Preacher, Teacher, Counselor, Revivalist, and diligent servant of the Lord. Pastor Brown completed the Evan Smith Leadership Training Institute under the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
In February of 2011, Pastor Brown founded and started Newness of Life Ministries with the vision to take the people of GOD from membership, to relationship, to leadership, through the preaching, teaching and living of GOD's word.
