Men’s Ministry Mentoring Initiative

 

What is a Mentor?

A mentor is a caring, responsible, adult that guides and encourages a young person to strive and succeed in his or her own life, by modeling, promoting, and fostering positive behaviors. A mentor is not meant to take the place of a parent or guardian, be a disciplinarian, or a decision maker for the child. A mentor is more like a trusted friend, that focuses on developing the child’s interests and abilities. A mentor may help a young person define and achieve his or her goals, be an open-minded, non-judgmental  listener, and introduce the mentee (the one who is being mentored) to fun and exciting new things and opportunities. A mentor is all about fostering           self-confidence, building self-esteem, and helping children realize their full potential.

 

Benefits to the Mentee

 

Individuals participating in mentoring programs often experience the following:

  • Better relationships with family and friends

  • Broader and brighter outlook on life

The Men’s Ministry’s focus is to encourage others through a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.; to build-up the Men of God to impact our families, our Church, and our communities, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

 

 

I am going where everyone on Earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man. Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways.

Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.

Most important of all,  continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

Our Purpose - Why there is such a need

 

With all of Life’s challenges  there isn’t a single person that can “make” it on their own!   Recognizing that this is not a common fact shared by all or realized in all communities, we felt the need to restore one of the main reasons for the institution of the Church in the community. All too often young boys and men within our community are pre-pegged by society in how their life should eventually turn out. There are   pre-existing conditions that exist that over time can cripple one’s sense of pride and self-worth. All too often we take for granted that everyone has been afforded the same opportunities in life, as well as had the same type of influences in their lives, good or bad.

 

At Newness of Life Ministries we aim to destroy these notions and instill in the boys and men of our community not only the tools but, the abilities, skill, temperament,  and spiritual basis needed to be successful in life. This is not a race thing. This is not a “what neighborhood I come from” thing. This is not a “I grew-up without a father thing”. This is a cultural existence that must be explained, realized, ratified, and transformed! Together, is the only way for us to be successful in anything we (as human beings) do. Learning from each other’s trials, tribulations, situations, and experiences is where it begins. And, your start to a new way of life, a new way of thinking, and a new existence starts here! We urge you to take a step toward a better future and a greater you.
